Charlotte L. Curren, 82, formerly of Coolidge Hill Road, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2015 at The Stanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 30, 1932, in Diamond Point, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Althea (Ciley) Pratt.
Charlotte graduated as valedictorian from Bolton Central School in 1949. She furthered her education at Fredonia, where she graduated with a teaching degree in music. She began her teaching years in Colonie and Slingerlands from 1953 to 1957, and later worked for BOCES, teaching in Bolton, Fort Ann, and Minerva. Charlotte also worked many side jobs before becoming employed by Westmount Health Facility as a nurse’s aide for 17 years until retiring.
She married Walter H. Curren in 1953; the couple was married for over 20 years and shared three children together.
Charlotte was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bolton, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, organist, deaconess, organized bake sales, and cared for their flowers. She was a loving grandmother, and helped care for them during their formative years.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by a brother, Willard Pratt.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianna Steidinger and her husband, Walter, Cindy Johnson and her husband, Bill; a son, David Curren, Sr. and his wife, Sheila all of Diamond Point; three grandchildren, David Curren Jr., Matthew Curren, and Faith Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Tristan.
Friends may call on Charlotte’s family from 10 to 11 am, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Blanchard, Pastor of the Bolton First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Bolton Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Charlotte’s memory to the First Baptist Church, P.O.
