Obituary of Dortha G. Wells

Queensbury: Dortha G. (Alger) Wells, 67, of Zenas Drive passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at her home, with her loving family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 17, 1946 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Althea Alger of Queensbury, and the late Elmer Alger. Dortha was a dedicated employee at C.R. Bard for many years. Besides her father, Dortha was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Philip A. Wells in 1998, and a sister, Marie Ann Lettus. She is survived by her beloved mother, her daughter, Melissa Ann Wells and her companion, Michael Bollettieri; four grandchildren, Emilee, Claire, Philip, Elijah, all of Cobleskill; and a brother, Raymond F. Alger and his wife, Teddi of Hudson Falls. She also leaves behind several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Dortha’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1:00 pm, following the visitation, with Pastor Pamela Mikel-Hayes of the United Methodist Church in Cobleskill officiating. Dortha’s earthly remains will be interred next to her beloved husband in the Bates Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Dortha’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 State Route 9, Queensbury, NY 12804 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
