Obituary of Jasmine Poplaski

Southern Pines, NC: Jasmine (Hull) Poplaski, 90 of Southern Pines, NC; passed on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St. Joseph of the Pines Nursing Center in Southern Pines. A Funeral Mass will be held 10AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Southern Pines with the Rev. Msgr. Jeffrey Ingham officiating. Rite of Committal will be held at a later date in Warrensburg, NY. Later in the spring a memorial service will be held at St. Joseph of the Pines. Mrs. Poplaski was born July 13, th 1923 in Warrensburg, NY to the late Marion and Howard Hull. She was valedictorian of her high school class in Warrensburg later attending and graduating from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music. She devoted much of her life to the teaching of music in New York in Mohawk, Ilion, Frankfort and Webster. She was past President of St. Anthony’s Women’s Guild and past president of the DOES of the Southern Pines Elks Club. She spent much of the last 11 years enjoying her retirement at St. Joseph of the Pines, Pine Knoll. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Poplaski in 1982, a sister, Claire Haas; and her two nephews, Craig and Jeffrey Montena. She is survived by her two stepsons, Michael Poplaski and wife Christine and Richard Poplaski and wife Audrey. Four grandchildren, Richard Poplaski, Virginia Mintz, Ryan Poplaski, Laura Burbine. One great grandniece Jessica Montena, great-nephew, David Montena, and eight great grandchildren. Her love of music brought a lifetime of enjoyment to countless numbers of people who benefited from her guidance and enthusiasm. The songbirds sang and she gladly mentored them. Everyone could sing and she proved it! She enjoyed cooking in her younger days. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast.
