Obituary of Paul Van Brunt

Paul “Speedo” Van Brunt, 56, of Schroon River Road passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 from injuries sustained in an airplane accident.
Born February 22, 1955 in Rockville Centre, he was the son of Elsie (Baldassare) Van Brunt of Long Island and the late Frank Van Brunt.
Paul grew up on Long Island, where he resided into his 30’s, before relocating to the Lake George area.
Paul had a great love for flying. He worked for Northwest Airlines and held a private pilots license for over 30 years. During that time, he owned many different aircraft, flying to various Caribbean islands, Canada, and numerous locations in the United States; several friends and family members accompanied him on these trips.
He was an automobile transmission specialist for Aamco and for the past several years, he conducted seminars on transmissions and welding to students on the islands of Trinidad, St. Martin, St. Lucia, and Barbados. He was warmly received wherever he went and made many friends in the process. Throughout his life, Paul had several business ventures and was particularly proud of his creation of flame exhaust pipes for cars and motorcycles. All in all he was a unique person and led a very interesting life.
Paul was predeceased by his father, Frank Van Brunt.
Besides his mother, Elsie, Paul was a devoted and loving father to his two sons, William and Luke Van Brunt, and step-son, Wade Moulton, Jr., all of Warrensburg. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank Van Brunt and his wife, Susan, and Gregory Van Brunt and his wife, Dana; a sister, Linda Collins and her companion, Jim Carpluk; nieces, Corinne and Jenna Van Brunt; and his nephew, Michael Collins, who was also his god-son.
Friends may call on Paul’s family from 1-3 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will follow visitation at 3:00 pm, Saturday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Warrensburg officiating.
