I first met Bill when we rode his motorcycle over Killington to meet the family. Just the first of many firsts for the Andersons and Bill Barney. Bill transformed our lives and that of many others. It was always a comfort to know that he continued to fight the good fight. I miss him.

It has always been a privilege to meet Bill in his warm, welcoming and friendly openness for everybody, especially for people from outside the US. I will miss him a lot in the Commission on General Conference. Very sad that he was not able to enjoy some more years of his retirement. May God strengthen and comfort all of you who shared his life and miss him most.

My thoughts and prayers to the family. I grew up with Bill and his family in Waterbury, in fact, my first recollection of Bill was when he and his family lived in the apartment below my family on Union Street. We also knew Bill when he served the UMC in Lyndonville as a friend and also my husband was his children's pediatrician while they lived in the area. Saw Bill last summer at the WHS reunion and have fond memories of a great chat. How he did love the memories of Waterbury as I do. Again, so sorry.

I am one of hundreds, if not thousands of people whose young lives were touched and made a little less scary because of Bill (and Brena). Ministering to teenagers can't be easy. He taught us to question and search for answers, even if our answers weren't the same as his. He loved us, he laughed with us and cried with us. Bill will remain alive and well in my heart always.

Bill was a great man and he will be missed. He was my D.S. when I became a Pastor and he was always there for me to call any time I needed advise. He appointed me as the Pastor here in what Bill called, "The Villa's" and his smile was always on his face when he said that.
To the family, I know that you will miss this gift from God but you also have many memories to look back on.
God Bless you as you continue your journey.....

I extend sincere sympathy to Bill's family. I knew him when we were kids in Waterbury; he was a big brother to my friend Jane. He was always kind to us. I remember him taking Jane and me with him to a couple of state parks in the summer. He used to lifeguard at the parks, and we went along to swim and just have fun. He used to drive us to Stowe to ski, too. How lucky we were to have someone willing to do that for us. All the while I got to know him, and learned what a great guy he was. From what I read, his adult life was one of exceptional service. To his family: I am very sorry for your loss. Bill was certainly a gem.
