Warrensburg:
John Frederick Latham, 61, of Route 9, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany following a brief battle with brain cancer.
Born on April 8, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Fredrick Latham and Ruth (Millington) Latham Trenary.
He attended the Warrensburg School District. After high school, he served as a Sergeant in the US Army in Vietnam.
When John returned from overseas, he worked at General Electric in Fort Edward, and later worked as a self employed contractor and landscaper.
John liked to read and loved the outdoors. He loved walking in the Adirondack Mountains, looking for new spots to hunt and fly fish, using flies that he tied himself. During the winter months, he enjoyed ice fishing. He was a charter member of the Whipple Hunting Club for 23 years. John also loved playing pool and was quite a sharp shooter. He will be missed by the many friends he made in his pool league. He was proud of his land and how he kept it groomed, and enjoyed watching the animals in his back yard. He loved to work with his hands, and will be missed by many people that he met while working for them.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his youngest sister, Edna Jo “Shilo” Latham; and stepfather, Hugh G. Trenary.
John is survived by his former wife of 33 years, Deborah Ann Sherman Latham; two sons: Jeffrey Chadwick Latham and his wife, Diana of Fort Edward; Jason Benjamin Latham and his companion, Melinda Smith of Fort Edward; his daughter, Katrina Ann Latham and her fiancée, Jacque Ecuyer of Bolton Landing; three sisters: Linda McNeill and her husband, Gerald Sr., of Warrensburg; Ethel Desjardin and her husband, Gil of Vermont; Virginia Latham of Glens Falls; cousin, Carolyn Dorrance, along with several nephews; and Edward Harrington, who was like a special son to John.
