Obituary of Benoit R. Turcotte

Newcomb: Benoit R. Turcotte, 82, of State Route 28N, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at his home. Born January 20, 1932 in Lambton, Quebec, he was the son of the late Arthur and Fedelise (Bolduc) Turcotte. Ben was employed as a logger, through Finch & Pruyn for over 36 years before his retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. Benoit married Solange Gagnon on September 7, 1963. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Eudore, Anthony, Gaeton, Real, and Conrad, and his sisters, Emilienne, Marie-Berthe, Alice, Lucille, and Annette. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Solange Turcotte of Newcomb; his children, Sylvia Larose and her husband, Randy, of Warrensburg, Allen Turcotte and his wife, Janine, of Queensbury, and Steve Turcotte and his wife, Rochelle, of Corinth; grandchildren, Brianna and Serena Larose, and Jessica and Sarah Turcotte; a sister, Diane Turcotte of Canada. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Ben’s family from 10 to 11 am, Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Therese’s Church, 18 Adams Lane, Newcomb. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation at 11 am, Friday, at the church, with Fr. Peter Berg presiding. Burial will take place privately, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Benoit’s memory to the Newcomb Volunteer Rescue Squad, 20 Marcy Lane, Newcomb, NY 12852.
