Obituary of John Wulfken

Warrensburg:
John Wulfken, 62, of Second Avenue, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born August 13, 1953 in Bethpage, he was the son of Joseph Wulfken of Hicksville and the late Mary (Sprague) Wulfken.
John was a 1972 graduate of JFK High School.
He married Tina Brancucci on June 8, 1980 in Plainview. The couple relocated to Warrensburg in the fall of 1989; there John owned and operated Hometown Maintenance for many years, servicing heating and air-conditioning units throughout the area.
He enjoyed restoring antique cars with his family, and was proud of his 1914 International that was just recently sold.
John was a member of the Warrensburg Beautification Committee, and was instrumental in the reorganization of the Warrensburgh Historical Society; as well as being a longtime member, he served as Vice President for a short time.
In addition to his mother, John was predeceased by, his brother, William Wulfken, and his sister, Mary (Wulfken) Weiler.
He is survived by his father, Joseph Wulfken; his beloved wife of 36 years, Tina; three children, Connie Shattuck and her husband, Cody, Nancy Chesney and her husband, Brian, and William Wulfken; five grandchildren, William Jr., Christopher, Trent, Seamus, and Saoirse. He also leaves behind three brothers, Joseph Wulfken, Jr. and his wife, Lois, Phillip Wulfken and his wife, Judy, and Charles Wulfken and his wife, Kim.
Friends may call on John’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Friday, June 17, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his wonderful life will take place at 10 am, Saturday, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, with Sister Linda Hogan, officiating.
Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
A special thanks to the nurses on Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital and High Peaks Hospice for the phenomenal care provided during his final chapter.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in John’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
