Obituary of Rita M. Holland

Brant Lake: Rita M. Holland, 76, of Tannery Road, passed away into the arms of Jesus, Monday, February 06, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. Born March 11, 1940 at her families homestead in Brant Lake, she was the daughter of the late Alberta Monroe. She married David “Bear” Holland on September 6, 1959 in Indian Lake. The couple enjoyed 51 blissful years together prior to his passing in 2011. Rita worked for many years as a home health care provider and took great pride in giving her clients the empathy and care that they deserved. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed camping, knitting, watching TV and playing games on her Kindle. Her greatest joy of all was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was often heard praising them and sharing their photos with family and friends on Facebook. Rita had an unwavering faith in God and was a long time member of the Thurman Baptist Church. Besides her parents and beloved husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Raymond Wolf. She is survived by her children, Dennis Holland and his wife, Nancidee of Pottersville; Susan Holland-Smith and her husband, Patrick of Schuylerville; Scott Holland and his companion, Birdie Hopkins of Brant Lake; Nedra Frasier and her husband, John of Chestertown; as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Rita’s family from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Nate Herrmann, Pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be conducted in Underwood Cemetery in the spring at a time to be announced.
