Obituary of Aussie Washburn
Please share a memory of Aussie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bakers Mills:
Aussie Washburn, 79, a longtime resident of Bakers Mills, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at his home.
Born August 3, 1934 in Wevertown, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Jane (Morehouse) Washburn.
Aussie met and married Vera Russell. Shortly after, the couple’s family began to grow in Centerville, where they remained for many years before relocating to Bakers Mills. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together before Vera’s passing on April 21, 2007.
He was employed by several local logging companies as a pulp truck driver, most recently for Moffitt Lumber Company. Aussie sustained a severe head injury in 1970 and was able to make a full recovery, against all odds, and was able to return to work until his retirement in 1983, when to his past injuries caught up to him.
Aussie was a family man that would do whatever it took to provide for his family; he loved his wife and children unconditionally.
He enjoyed maintaining his lawn in the summer and his driveway in the winter, and will be sorely missed by his family and all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his many siblings.
Aussie leaves behind three sons, Kenneth Sr. and his wife, Darlene of Johnsburg, Richard and his wife, Sheila of Wevertown, Robert and his wife, Mary of Bakers Mills; a daughter, Jane Brown and her husband, Jarrett of North Creek; grandsons, Kenneth Washburn Jr., Richard Washburn and Robert Brown; granddaughters, Tara Cleveland and her husband, Andy, Trish Washburn and Nicole Brown; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Nicholas and Adriana Washburn, and AndiLynn Cleveland; brother-in-laws, Bernard and John Russell and their families. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Aussie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his lifelong friend, Vince Nevins for always being there for him.
At Aussie’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled.
Services will be conducted privately and at the convenience of his family.
