Warrensburg: Refugia L. “Cookie” Encino, 92, of Mountain Ave., most recently residing at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 4, 1923 in Martindale, TX, she was the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Solome and Francisca (Serrato) Leza. Cookie enjoyed living life to the fullest; she loved all people and animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and the staff at Countryside Adult Home, with music and dancing. In addition to her parents, Cookie was predeceased by her husband, Frank Encino, infant daughter, Andrea, and her nine siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Josephine Baker of Warrensburg and Gloria Marin and her husband, Jesse, of San Antionio, TX; eight grandchildren, Roger Leonbruno, Jeannie (Terry) Daniels, Jackie (Brian Brunetto) Leonbruno, Jody (Bradley) Wilson, Jewell Leonbruno, and Jesse, James, and Johhny Marin; eight great-grandchildren, Teddy, Heyley, Cory, Jared, Alex, Steven, Travis, and Wyatt. She also leaves behind seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends. Friends may call on Cookie’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Monday, March 14, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home with James Lindblade officiating.
