Obituary of Clara B. West

North Creek: Clara G. (Byrne) West, 98, formerly of Byrnes Rd., passed away peacefully, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in North Creek. Born August 24, 1916 in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Foster and Gertrude (Higley) Byrne. Clara was a graduate of North Creek High School. She married Lester E. West on August 1, 1936 in Lake George. The couple resided in Tahawus before relocating to North Creek prior to his passing in 1976; they spent 40 blissful years together. Besides spending time with her family Clara enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, fishing, and traveling to visit out of town family. She was a member of the Garden Club in Minerva, Senior Citizens, and Red Hatters. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Byrne, and a son-in-law, Francis Boos. She is survived by four children, Lester West and his wife, Patty, of Orlando, FL, Betty (West) Boos of North Creek, James West and his wife, Constance, of Greenwood, IN, and Albert West and his wife, Peggy, of Corinth; and a brother, Robert Byrne. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Clara’s family from noon to 2 pm, Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885. Burial will take place privately, at the convenience of the family.
