North River:
Lucille C. “Peggy” Nelson, formerly of North River, passed away, Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward. She was 89.
Born June 15, 1918 in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late William & Elizabeth (Harris) Michno.
Peggy and her husband, Andrew, began vacationing with their family in the North River area in 1951 and permanently settled on the 13th Lake Rd. in 1987.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Andrew C. Nelson, Sr., who passed away on November 7, 2002. Her sister, Mildred and brothers Fred, Arthur and William have also died before her.
She is survived by her daughters, Lucille “Peggy” Lanzer of Black Canyon City, AZ; Andrea Prouty of Wells, ME; her son, Andrew Nelson, Jr. of North River; her brother, John Michno of Lindenhurst; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Peggy’s family from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at 8 pm Monday at the funeral home with Sister Francesa Husselbeck, RSM officiating.
