Brant Lake:
Nancy S. Baker, 73, of Davis Road, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 05, 2018 at Mary’s Haven Hospice in Saratoga Springs following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 21, 1944 in Lynbrook, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Selma (Schmidt) Smith.
She was a 1962 graduate of Lynbrook High School.
Nancy and Sam Baker eloped on April 20, 1967 in Clifton Park, following a 12-day courtship.
She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Warren County Municipal Center and also the Town of Horicon. Along with raising her family, she spent many years volunteering her time at Pilgrim Camp in Brant Lake and with High Peaks Hospice in Queensbury.
She and her family were longtime members of the Warrensburg Assembly of God Church, and later the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Hudson Falls.
Nancy will be remembered for her kind, generous heart, always offering an open door to family and friends.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Sam Baker.
She is survived by three children, Philip Baker and his wife, Karin, of Old Bridge, NJ, Rebecca Bramer and her husband, Russell, of Queensbury, and Rachel Baker of Brant Lake; three grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel Baker, and Seth Bramer; her “second son”, Richard Millward and his wife, Minerva, and their daughters, Abigail and Elizabeth of Keyport, NJ; two brothers, David Smith and Leslie Smith and his wife, Patricia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, extended family and many special friends.
Friends may call on Nancy’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Smith, of the Gospel Lighthouse Church, officiating.
Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family in Brant Lake Cemetery.
Nancy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at Mary’s Haven, The Community Hospice, and High Peaks Hospice.
