Obituary of Richard A. Hanson

Athol: Richard Andrew Hanson, 75, of High Street, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at his home following a lifelong battle with diabetes. Born May 26, 1930 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Andrew and Florence (Barger) Hanson. Richard served his country spending four years in the US Navy aboard the USS Gilbert Islands aircraft carrier and the CVE-107 transport ship. He worked with AT&T for more than 31 years and his memberships included the Warrensburgh Lodge 425 F&AM, the American Legion, BPOE 81 of Glens Falls and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Richard leaves behind his family of friends, Jean and Rex Reynolds, special friends of many years, Pat Jones Sellers and her husband, Art, dearly loved, Shirley and George Luse, close friend, Gail Celeste and her husband, Ralph, John and Heidi Baker, Shane and Kylie Baker and little Tommy, good neighbors, Mary Jordan, his handyman, Milton Kennedy, his gardener, Hiram Kennedy and all his friends at the Heidelberg. You had a generous heart to all. You will be truly missed, your kindness has warmed our heart and the Lord will comfort you as you have all of us. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with a Masonic services conducted by his brothers of the Warrensburgh Lodge F&AM. Following the Masonic service, a service to celebrate Richard’s life will take place. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to share fond memories of Dick during the service. Richard will be interred next to his beloved mother in the Warrensburg Cemetery in the spring.
