Obituary of Mona E. LaVergne

Indian Lake: Mona Estella LaVergne, 87, of Carmel Drive, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Born in Indian Lake on January 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Viola (Durking) Aldous. Mona graduated from Indian Lake Central School in 1941. She married Louis Charles LaVergne and the couple moved to Plattsburgh in 1956. She was employed at Aranac Ribbon and then Vila’s Nursing Home. She happily retired in 1996. Mona had a great love for music and gardening. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Louis, as well as her daughter in law, Rita LaVergne, and several step-brothers and sisters. Mona is survived by two sons, James B. LaVergne of Indian Lake, and William L. LaVergne of Champlain; and a daughter, Mary C. Baumann and her husband, William of Plattsburgh; she is also survived by six grandchildren as well as 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Mona’s family from 12 to 2 pm, Wednesday, July 14, at the Indian Lake First Baptist Church, Route 30, Indian Lake. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted following the visitation at 2 pm, Wednesday, at the church with the Rev. Paul E. Miller, Pastor officiating.
