My sons, Ethan and Stephen Day, whose mother was Barbara Bixby Day, and I were shocked to hear about Doug and extend all our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Corbin, his wife and children, and his brothers, Peter and Chuck. I knew Doug since he was ten. He was always so cheerful, outgoing and a treat to have around with good conversation. Though I haven't seen him since he left to live permanently in Bolton Landing. Ethan, Stephen and I will remember him with great fondness.

Doug was more than a cousin, more than an ambassador of good will for friends and family at Mohican Point, more than someone who was a caretaker of the family boats as if they were his. He was a close friend of mine for over 60 years. I feel very blessed that I was able to spend time with him last September at the lake. My only regret is that I didn't spend more time with him. Doug had a big heart and was a positive influence in the lives of many family members and friends. There were years that, for whatever reason, I was unable to go to Bolton Landing. But when I did and was able to connect with Doug and a Miller Light, it almost seemed like no time had passed since our last get together. May you rest in peace my old friend knowing how you touched so many people's lives in such a positive and meaningful manner. Mohican Point and Bolton Landing will not be the same without you!
