Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Riparius: Marion Millington, 80, of River Road passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Heritage Commons in Ticonderoga with her loving family by her side. Born on August 24, 1929 in the Town of Horicon, she was the daughter of the late Elwin Sr. and Edna (Morehouse) Younes. Marion was a lifelong resident of the Adirondack Mountains. She married Alvin Orlando Millington, Sr. on August 23, 1947 and dedicated their lives to developing their family, working on their farm, and providing care to everyone in their community. Marion was involved in several charity organizations that provided food and care to local children. The couple enjoyed 58 years together until Alvin’s passing July 22, 2005. Marion worked for Loon Lake Cottages and the Sagamore Resort in the Laundry for many years. She enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lived her whole life caring for others. Marion was known for her cooking for large hunting crowds and for many years, was considered to have a “mom’s taxi” because she loved to run the roads. She loved to go hunting with her husband, taking long rides in the car, blackberry picking, and gardening. During the winter months, she could be found making wreaths out of balsam. Marion enjoyed watching the local wildlife, especially deer, bear, birds and partridges. Her favorite bird was the owl, but loved all birds and enjoyed feeding them in her lilac trees. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her children, Jimmy O. Millington and Joy M. Millington; sisters: Carrie Paul, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jensen, and Lilly Sharp; and brother, Elwin Younes Jr. She is survived by her beloved children: Roy Millington and his wife, Toni; David Millington and his wife, Gretchen; Dale Millington and his wife, Monica; Kathy McNeil and her husband, Joe; Earl Millington and his wife, Kelley; Hazel L. Mann; Alvin Millington; JoAnne Daly; and Billy Millington; her brothers: John, James, Harry, Donald, Asa, Jackie, Carl, Gary and Larry Younes; and sisters: Phaebe David and Alice Webster; along with several cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Marion’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 pm, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Bates Cemetery in Johnsburg with Pastor Chad Haneman of the Grace Bible Fellowship Church, officiating. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to: Heritage Commons, 1019 Wicker St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883. Marion’s family would like to thank the Heritage Commons for making her part of their family, she really loved all of you and so do we. We truly appreciate the diligence and time spent with Marion during her daily care. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to quality nursing care. The family would also like to thank Dr. Hicks of HHHN for the care he provided to Marion during the past five years. Marion would like to thank Dale and Monica Millington for opening their home and taking her under their wing and protecting her over the past few years. “I loved my life and wouldn’t have changed a thing. Love you always, Momma.” Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guest book and condolences.
