Obituary of Geraldine M. Morrison

Stony Creek: Geraldine M. Morrison, 93, danced her way to heaven, Tuesday, July 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the second of four daughters born to Angelina and Paul Van Cina. Gerry was born in Manhattan August 15, 1920. She was raised in Brooklyn and Queens before relocating to the Adirondacks. She married her mountain man, Arthur E. Morrison Jr., of Warrensburg, where they made their home on "the hill". She was employed by the Shirt Factory, later the Dress Factory, and in the early years, at Willsy's Diner. Her greatest love was nature and the big outdoors. Raised by artists, she was an accomplished fiber and textile artist herself, producing many things of beauty; her hands were never idle. She was the mother of six and step-mother to two. Gerry was predeceased by her husband Arthur, a daughter, Geraldine Marcus, granddaughter, Geraldine Marcus, son in-law, Kenneth Ackley, three sisters, Pauline Verity, Theodora Guerra, and Leanora and Larry Suplinskas, and a step-son-in-law, Loren Burckard. She leaves behind her children, Patricia McQuillan and husband, Patrick, of Corona, CA, Louanna Desmarias and husband, John, of Bristol, CT, Christina Ackley of Thurman, Janet Van Cina of Stony Creek, and Michael Morrison of Warrensburg; step-children, Terrance Morrison and wife, Sharon, of Warrensburg, and Bonnie Burckard of FL; grandchildren, Brian Jenson, Michael Wolf, Jessica Semon, Sage Lilly, Steven, Scott, and Elizabeth McQuillan, T.J. and Tammy Morrison, Ritchie, Becky, Gina, and Rhonda Burckard, Hope and Jim Lloyd and many great-grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1 pm, Saturday at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, with Fr. Paul Cox presiding. Friends may call on Geraldine’s family one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
