Obituary of Joseph D. Baker

Warrensburg: Joseph D. Baker, 45, of State Rt. 418, passed away, Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born February 6, 1962 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Barbara (Hall) Baker of Warrensburg and the late Dempsey A. Baker. Joe was a lifelong resident of the area and began his working years as a carpenter. He also worked in the maintenance departments at the Surfside Motel, Capri Village and the Diamond Cove. His favorite pastimes included listening to music on the radio, playing pool, and playing, yatzee and uno with his mother. Besides his father, Dempsey, who passed away on December 9, 2005, his Uncle Ken Baker also died before him. Survivors besides his mother, Barbara, include his son, Darren Baker of Warrensburg; his granddaughter, Emily Baker of Warrensburg; two sisters, Rose Germain of Saratoga Springs, Debra Penna and her husband, Robert of Thurman; his brother, Kevin Baker and his wife, Michelle of South Carolina; cousin, Peggy Burch; special friend, Miranda Kolakowski; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Joe’s family from 6-8 pm Thursday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Herrmann, Pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place, 10 am, Friday in the Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a charity of ones choice.
