Obituary of Helen G. Fish

Queensbury: Helen G. Fish, 92, formerly of Montray Rd., passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Born January 12, 1919 in Igerna, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Jessie (Cole) Dunkley. She married Leo Fish in 1977, the couple spent a blissful 18 years together prior to his passing in 1995. Helen was a registered nurse in the Glens Falls area for over 30 years, before retiring from Westmount Health Facility in 1980. She was a member of the former North Gore Baptist Church in Olmstedville. She loved wildlife, her pets, and taking fall road trips through the Adirondacks during peak foliage. She was active in giving back to the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the Humane Society and the SPCA of Upstate NY. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Paul Busteed, and her granddaughter, Patricia LaFountain. Survivors include her niece, Nancy Richmond and husband, Marty of Fultonville; great-nieces, Rebecca and Emily Richmond; great-nephew, Mark Richmond and wife, Amy; great-great-nephews, Trenton and Logan Richmond; and sister-in-laws, Helen F. Fish of Minerva, Hilda West of North Creek, and Fay Crandall and her husband, Morgan of Warrensburg. She also leaves behind her close friends, Jim and Angela Meade and Lou Ann, John and Dyan Holt. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Friends may call on Helen’s family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in Igerna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Washington County SPCA or Glens Falls Animal Hospital in Helen’s name.
