Robert T. Hickson, 74, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 14, 2017, ay St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.
Born November 20, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Curran) Hickson.
He graduated from the New York School of Printing, and was employed by the New York Daily News for 38 years. Robert was a member of the New York Printing Pressmans Union, Local #2.
Robert was an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan, who also loved the Boston Celtics, especially Bill Sharman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and fishing in Harriman State Park and the Adirondacks.
In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by a brother, Jerry Hickson.
He is survived by a brother, Jimmy Hickson and his wife, Ellen, of Warrensburg; nieces and nephew, Christine, Dorian, Brian, Colleen, and Lorraine. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
Friends may call on Robert’s family from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg.
Rite of Committal will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Hudson Street, Warrensburg.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Robert’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
Robert’s family would like to extend a heartfelt hank you to the staff at Brookdale Memory Care Facility, where he lived comfortably for the past four years, as well as the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Hospice Inn for the care they provided throughout his final journey.
