Warrensburg:
Douglas E. Robinson, 79, passed away peacefully, April 3, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
He was born Sept 3, 1935 in Warrensburg to the late Frank & Sara (Combs) Robinson.
On October 10, 1953 he married the love of his life Patricia (Stone) Robinson and left his home to serve the next 20 years in the United States Air Force. During his time in service the two created a loving family as his assignments took them to numerous areas in the United States and Far East Asia. His period of service covered such events as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. Upon his retirement as an E6/Technical Sergeant they settled back to their home town of Warrensburg in 1971 where he worked the next 25 years in service to Warrensburg Central School District and its numerous children as a School Bus Driver and custodian. He often referred to this time period as one of his fondest memories as he was able to see, experience, and influence the lives of so many children.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, wonderful great grandfather, and a very proud Veteran. He spent his retirement years active by enjoying his love of camping, spending winters in Florida, chicken BBQ’s, gardening, swimming in his pool & spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family & friends.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia; his four children: David Robinson and his wife, Victoria of Thurman; Darrell Robinson and his wife, Gail of North Carolina; Duane Robinson and his wife, Donna of Arkansas; daughter Valerie Eldred and her husband John of Warrensburg; His seven grandchildren: Brianne Martin, Crystal (Tim) Slattery, Ashleigh Robinson, Jon (Courtney) Robinson, Megan (Jared) Carlton, Jared Robinson & Daniel Robinson; his five great-grandchildren, Miles & Maris Martin, Libby Slattery, Colt and Wilder Carlton as well as his many friends.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
Per his request, a graveside service will be conducted privately at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, condolences and private prayers would be greatly appreciated.
The family would also like to thank the staff of T5 and Dr. Byrne for the excellent care and comfort they provided to Doug and his family.
