Obituary of Betty G. Evans

Betty Gail Evans, 90, of Schroon River Road passed away peacefully, Monday, September 14, 2015 at her home.
Born March 15, 1925 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Nellie (Bolton) Baker.
A lifelong resident of the area, Betty was a longtime communicant and member of the Church of the Holy Cross, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was a waitress at several area restaurants, including the Colonial Arms, where she was a dedicated employee for 25 years, and also worked at the Nordick in Lake George for 10 years.
She married Albert G. Evans on February 17, 1945 in Warrensburg. The couple shared 55 years together at their home on Schroon River Road before Albert’s passing in 2000.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, and animals, especially horses.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Baker, Bernard Baker, Sr., and Leonard Baker, Sr., a nephew, John Rheubottom, and niece, Nancy Baker.
She is survived by four nephews, Bernard Baker, Jr., of Warrensburg, Thomas Baker of California, Leonard Baker, Jr., of Michigan, and Burt Carson of Port Henry; three nieces, Tammy Hightower of Warrensburg, Kathy Rowe of Indian Lake, and Margaret Rheubottom of North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Ruth Baker. She also leaves behind several extended family members and special friends.
Friends may call on Betty’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Friday at the Church of the Holy Cross, 3764 Main St., Warrensburg, with Rev. Thomas Pettigrew, Rector, presiding.
Burial will follow in Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury.
Following the burial, friends and family will gather in Betty’s honor at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warrensburg.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Betty’s memory to the Church of the Holy Cross.
