Patricia Jean Higgins, passed away Thursday morning, August 24, 2017, at her home, with her husband, Brad, by her side, after a long battle with cancer.
Patricia “Pat”, married the love of her life, Brad Higgins, on June 11, 1985, and worked with him as a singer and bass player. In 1991 she won Female Vocalist of the Year for WVNR/WNYV’s Country Music Awards, which was an annual competition for local musicians and singers.
Patricia Jean Higgins was born in Baltimore, North Carolina on May 7, 1949. Patricia was the daughter of Lawrence Allen Ray, Sr. and Helen Louis (Plemmons) Ray, who resided in Ashville, North Carolina.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Bradley D. Higgins; three siblings, Lynda Darlene (Ray) Gregory and her husband, Richard Brent Gregory, Cathy Diane (Ray) Puckett and her husband, Keith Puckett, and Larry Allen Ray, Jr. and his wife, Tracy Ray.
Patricia and Bradley’s children are, Jason Van Jahnke, residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Jody Karas and her husband, Benjamin Michael Karas, with children, Benjamin and Mitchell, residing in Whitesboro, Corrina Ann Parnapy and her husband, Jeremy Parnapy, with child, William, residing in Huntington, Vermont, Joshua Scott Higgins and his children, Rebecca and Michaela, residing in Fort Edward, and Sarah Mattox and her husband, Mike Frost, residing in Seattle, Washington.
Patricia is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Patricia enjoyed swimming, snorkeling, mountain biking, gardening, and painting, she was even the illustrator for a limited edition children’s book called “Silly Dilly”.
Pat’s love of her life and soulmate, Brad, were brought together through a mutual love of music. They played and sang together for 31 years, both on and off stage.
At Pat’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
A private memorial will take place at the convenience of the family.
