Rene D. Bureau, 88, of Route 28N, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 2, 2015 at The Pines at Glens Falls following a long illness.
Born September 22, 1927 in Collinsville, CT, he was the son of the late Alfred and Eva (Julien) Bureau.
At the age of six, Rene’s family moved to Canada. Years later he relocated back to the states where along with his brothers, they operated Bureau Brothers. In 1976 he formed R. Bureau & Sons in Newcomb.
Rene married Jeannine C. Bilodeau on June 27, 1953 at St. Agnes Lac Megantic, Quebec.
In addition to spending time with his family, Rene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending many winters in Cocoa, Florida with his wife.
He served on the Newcomb Central School Board from 1965-1968, he was also a former member of the Lions Club, and the Grand Marshall at the 2000 Tupper Lake Woodsman’s Field Days.
Besides his parents, Rene was predeceased by his siblings, Leo, Norman, Harvey, Louis, Roland, and Lise.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannine Bureau of Newcomb; daughter, Rena Rizzo and her husband, Eugene, of Highland; three sons, Donald Bureau and his wife, Patricia, of Old Lyme, CT, Ricky Bureau and his wife, Peggy, of Coppell, TX, and David Bureau and his wife, Marla, of Saratoga Springs; nine grandchildren, Kevin (Tiffany), Steven, Scott, Garrett, Ricky, Alexandra, Hunter, Tori, and Chase; one great-granddaughter, Emma Lynn; three sisters, Yvette Roberge, Huguette Chartier and her husband, Andre, and Jocelyn Bureau. He also leaves nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Rene’s family from 10 to 11 am, Saturday, October 17, 2015, at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Newcomb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at 11 am, Saturday, at the church with Fr. Peter Berg, presiding.
Rite of Committal will follow in St. Therese Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Rene’s memory to the Newcomb Vol. Fire Dept., Newcomb Vol. Rescue Squad, or the Newcomb Lions Club.
