Obituary of James R. Gallup

Warrensburg: James R. Gallup, 89, formerly of River Street, passed away, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Adirondack Tri-County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in North Creek. Born April 30, 1926 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Basil and Hattie (Reynolds) Gallup. Jim was a lifelong resident of the area and honorably served our country with the US Army 10th Mountain Division during WW II. He married Florence Kane on December 13, 1947 and the couple lived in Thurman before settling on River St. Jim was the Transportation Superintendent at the Warrensburg Central School for many years. He was a longtime member of the Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Co. and his favorite pastimes included RV camping with his wife and family. Besides his parents, his beloved wife of 52 years, Florence passed away September 30, 1999 and his son, Bernard passed away in October 22, 2014. His sister, Elizabeth Gallup and brother, Ernest Gallup also died before him. Survivors include his son, John Gallup and his wife, Laurie of Waynesboro, PA; his daughter, Mary Randall and her husband, Bruce of Diamond Point; his brother, Frank Gallup of Thurman; two sisters, Doris Bunker of Thurman and Dorothy Swinton of Warrensburg; sister in law, Marjorie Gallup of South Glens Falls; eight grandchildren, Devin and Ryan Randall, Symbliene Seavey, Jeremy Gallup, Jaime Calhoun, Marnie-Jean Emrick, Nicholas Ramsey and Karen Ramsey; many great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from noon till 2 pm Saturday, June 13 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will follow the visitation at 2 pm with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman.
