Obituary of Morton W. Morse

Bakers Mills: Morton W. Morse, 83, formerly of Goodman Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Born November 4, 1928 in Minerva, he was the son of the late Harry and Hazel (Warren) Morse. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Following his graduation from Minerva Central School, he began driving truck for the late George Foote of North Creek, before beginning his career at Barton Mines, where he remained for nearly 42 years. Morton took great pride in the care and upkeep of his home and yard. He was a very loving father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Ada Foote and Evelyn Parker, and his great-grandson, Wyatt Morse. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol (Davis) Morse of Bakers Mills; his children: Kevin Morse and his wife, Cindy of North Creek; Kelly Bonniger and her husband, Ken of Gaines, PA; Barbara Galusha and her companion, Rod Cropsey of Bakers Mills; Mike Morse of Bakers Mills; Lisa Hagadorn and her husband, Colin of Bakers Mills; grandchildren: Cory Morse, Brody Morse, Ken Bonniger, Krissy Grant, Brandi Galusha, Lacey Galusha and Sierra Galusha; his great-granddaughters: Avery and Gracie Morse, Paige and Haley Morse, and Lily Grant; his siblings: Fred Morse, Doug Morse, Effie McNally and Bertha McNally; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Morton’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Morton’s family and friends are invited to celebrate his life from 1 to 3 pm, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Sodom Boy Scout Hall, Peaceful Valley Road, North Creek. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the staff of High Peaks Hospice for the compassionate care they provided for Morton during his final days.
