Obituary of Gerald J. McNeill

Warrensburg: Gerald J. “Bucket” McNeill, 76, of Burdick Ave., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Warrensburg Health Center with his beloved wife at his side. Born October 25, 1934 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Arthur and Dema (Prosser) McNeill. Gerald was a lifelong resident of the area and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hale during the Korean War. He married Linda Latham in November of 1961 in the First United Methodist of Warrensburg and the couple resided and raised their family on Burdick Ave. in the very house he was born in, the majority of their time together. Bucket worked at International Paper Co. in Corinth for over 40 years, before retiring as a supervisor. He was a 46 year member of the Warrensburgh Lodge 425 Free and Accepted Masons and served as Master. He also was a member of Warrensburg Chapter 325 RAM and Sandy Hill Chapter 189 RAM as was also a member of the Warrensburg Post 446 of the American Legion. He was a former member of the Warrensburg Vol. Fire Co. Besides his parents, his son, Michael, and his brothers, Harold, Stephen and Arthur Jr. and sisters, Elizabeth Cullen, Eleanor Converse, grandson, Adam Baker have predeceased him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda McNeill of Warrensburg; his four sons, Gordon McNeill of Lake Luzerne, Fred McNeill of Queensbury, Gerald McNeill Jr. of Washington State, Bryan McNeill and his companion, Wil Roesch of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, James and Stephanie, whom he loved dearly; one sister, Irma Winslow Warrensburg, brother, Joseph McNeill and his wife, Sandra of Diamond Point; daughter in law, Ruth McNeill of Warrensburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Bucket’s family from 1-3 pm Saturday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 3 pm the funeral home beginning with members of the American Legion, followed by the Masonic service and concluding with the Rev. Stephen Andrews, Pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at a future date in the Gerald B.H.
