Bakers Mills: Carnata “Candy” Dalaba, 71, of Goodman Road, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus, Sunday, February 13, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 29, 1939 at Hillmont Farms in Bakers Mills, she was the daughter of the late John and Hester (Rist) Dalaba. She married John Bacon on December 11, 1955 and the couple spent many wonderful years together at their home in Bakers Mills. Candy always welcomed friends and family into her home, and the coffee pot was always on. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her step-father, Albert Capwill; her brother, Lynden Dalaba; her sisters: Violet Heath, Blossom Faulkner, Rev. Daisy Allen, and Fern Turner; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Bacon. Survivors include her three daughters: Suzannah Virgil and her husband, Richard of Johnsburg; Deborah Austin and her husband, Robert of Bakers Mills; Verna Bradway and her husband, Erwin of Bakers Mills; her three sons: John “Jack” Bacon and his wife, Heather of Bakers Mills; Dennis Bacon and his companion, Robin Stark of Wevertown; Donald Bacon and his companion, Rosetta Russell of Bakers Mills; her daughters-in-law: Debera Bacon of Bakers Mills and Holly Bacon of Warrensburg; her sisters: Pansy Allen of Queensbury; Rose Allen of Johnsburg; her brother, Oliver Dalaba and his wife, Ginny of FL; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Dalaba of Ft. Ann, and Trudy Dixon and her husband, Ron of Hudson Falls; brothers-in-law, Earl Allen of Bakers Mills and Alfred Capwill and his wife, Betty of Erie, PA; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Candy’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Sodom Community Church, Sodom Cutoff Rd., Johnsburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 4 pm, at the church with her nephew, Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor and her brother, Rev. Oliver Dalaba and Pastor Ron Weller will officiate. Burial will be conducted in Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg in the spring. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Johnsburg EMS, North Creek, NY 12853.
