Lake George:
David (Bear) Martin Brehm, passed away Wednesday August 15th, 2018 at age 65, at his home in Lake George Village, after a short battle with cancer. David was born January 23rd of 1953 in Philadelphia PA and was the third son of the late William and Cleo (Martin) Brehm.
Dave graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and attended the University of Miami. After school, Dave entered the Brehm family businesses and was active in both the Hygienic Sanitation Company and B&G Equipment Company. In addition to his daily responsibilities for the companies, Dave served on the Board of Directors for B&G Equipment Company until both businesses were sold in the 1990’s. During his tenure at the companies, he was instrumental in implementing an organizational restructuring that enabled the continued successful operation of the businesses.
Bear loved Lake George, he spent most of his summers at his beautiful home on the lake in Cleverdale, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and water skiing. He also enjoyed downhill skiing trips in the winter with a large group of close friends called “The Bear Builders”. In the years after he retired, he was an avid golfer all year round, as he and Suzanne were able to spend their winters in Florida. He also loved frequent social outings with family and friends, Dave definitely knew how to have a good time! Dave travelled extensively with Suzanne in their RV which they often called “home”. During the 10 years Dave and Suzanne spent together on the road they referred to their life style as “Doing the Hokey Pokey”. He has taken his final journey now and will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
Dave was predeceased by his brother Robert Brehm. Left to cherish his memory are his son Gilman (Kim) Brehm of Quakertown, PA and his life partner Suzanne Tearno of Lake George Village, along with her children Franklin Tearno and Nicole (Alex) Tearno, his brother George (Janet) Brehm of McDonaugh, GA, his brother Phillip (Jane) Brehm of Ferrisburgh, VT., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bear also leaves behind a large group of friends that felt like family, he loved them dearly.
