Roger O. Mason, 83, of Bird Pond Rd., passed away on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 at the Westmount Health Care Facility, following a short illness.
Born on September 4, 1922 in Richford, VT, he was the son of Orlin and Nellie Tatro Mason.
He served in the US Navy during WWII.
Roger married Ruby O. Shedd on December 3, 1946. Ruby passed away on January 17, 2004 after 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Mason was employed by National Lead Corporation in Tahawus, where he served in several positions that included, driving truck, bit sharpening and float operation. Roger retired in September of 1984 after 36 years of service.
Roger was a “Jack of All Trades” which included carpentry and auto mechanics.
Mr. Mason is survived by his seven children, Rudy Mason and his wife, Sylvia of Queensbury; Rhoda Mason and her companion, Andy Nelson of Kingsbury; Rhea Greene and her husband, Tom of Queensbury; Robert Mason and his wife, Sally of Chestertown; Randy Mason and his wife, Diana of Olmstedville; Regina Raymond and her husband, Bob of Glens Falls; Roxanna “Roxy” Freebern and her husband, Reginald of North River; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Lovelette of St. Albans, VT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roger was predeceased by two brothers, Robert John Mason, Merton Mason and on sister, Theresa Mason.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family on Sunday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River.
Burial will take place in Igerna Road Cemetery.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
