North River: James Richard Cashman, 73, of State Route 28, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015. Born October 24, 1941 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Richard and Helen (Bertuch) Cashman. He graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in 1959, and later Adelphi College in 1964 with a degree in business administration. Jim served in the National Guard. Throughout the years, Jim worked as a plant manager in the food industry, and for Bingo King in Nebraska, later retiring as a car salesman for Smithtown Nissan in 2006. Jim was an avid fan of the Yankees and Giants, and enjoyed NASCAR, even making many trips to the Dover Speedway with his son, Marc. He loved visiting his son, Jason in China and Ireland, and roadtrips with his wife in his red Miata, travelling from the Rocky Mountains to Key West. He took great pride in landscaping and building various things around his house, a deck, garden bench, curved wooden staircases in the yard, and dollhouses for his granddaughters. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Sandy (Dietz Morgan) on April 21, 2007 in North River. He was a member and trustee of the North River United Methodist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Cashman; daughter, Cristen (Christopher) Bendowski of Rockville Centre; sons, Jason (Mariam) Cashman of NYC, and Marc (Lori) Cashman of Huntington; a brother, Richard (Karen) Cashman of Smithtown; grandchildren, Cate, Connor, Leyla, Riz, Matthew, and Paige; step-children, Carolyn (Bill) Cameron, Elizabeth Morgan, Tom (Becky) Morgan; step-grandchildren, Gerry, Sandra, Billy, Duncan, Samantha, Noah, and Grace.
