Obituary of Mary T. Patton

North Creek: Mary T. Patton, 90, formerly of Dillon Hill Road, Wevertown, passed into eternal life Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born December 29, 1917 in Maine, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nina (Howard) Tyler. Mary graduated from Newark Valley Central School in 1936, and then attended Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY. For thirty-seven years, she delivered mail between North Creek and Bakers Mills, retiring in 1992. She was a faithful member of the Bakers Mills Wesleyan Church, serving over the years as the Sunday school superintendent, bible teacher, church treasurer, board member, and a supporter of foreign missions. Mary was also a charter member of the Bakers Mills-Sodom Women’s Auxiliary. Her husband, Gilbert, passed away February 20, 1994 after fifty-five years of marriage. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother and two sisters. Survivors include her three children: Theodore Patton and his wife, Patricia of Johnsburg; Kathryn (Patton) Schwedt and her husband, David of Gowanda; and Robert Patton and his wife, Doris of Sodom; her grandchildren: Shellie (Patton) Teachout, Ted Patton Jr., Scott Patton and his wife, Erica; Michelle (Aldous) Saunders and her husband, Chad; David Patton and his wife, Laura; Mary Jo (Patton) Russell and her husband, Mark, and Jon Patton; along with six great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Saturday, January 12, at the Wesleyan Church in Bakers Mills with Pastor Ron Allen of the Sodom Community Church officiating. Pastor Wayne Schoonmaker and Pastor Ron Weller will also be participating. Burial will be held in the spring at Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. Friends may call from 1 to 3pm Saturday prior to the funeral. Fellowship will follow the service in the church hall.
