Obituary of Mary Ellen O'Hara

Warrensburg: Mary Ellen O’Hara of Golf Course Rd. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 4, 2012, on her 72nd birthday at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA following a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 4, 1940 in Port Washington, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Lynch) Mackey. In 1961, Mary met Richard O’Hara in Port Washington. The couple wed on January 12, 1963; they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this coming Thursday. She was employed as a bus driver for many years at the Kings Park School System until her retirement in 1995. Mary enjoyed playing golf with her husband, soap operas, trivia, and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister and two brothers. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard O’Hara of Warrensburg; her daughter, Kathleen Haller of Warrensburg; sons: Edward O’Hara and his wife, Catherine of South Glens Falls and Richard O’Hara and his wife, Angie of Dublin, Ohio; her brother, Thomas Mackey and his wife, Mary Jane of Northport, Long Island; her eight grandchildren: Eric Gaynair, Jennum O’Hara, Morgan O’Hara, Kevin Haller, Daniel Haller, Liam O’Hara, Aidan O’Hara, and Egan O’Hara who loved her very much. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Mary’s family from 4-7 pm, Monday evening, January 9th at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St.,Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 am, Tuesday at the funeral home, with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s RC Church officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
