South Glens Falls:
Alfred Wayne Jacobson, 67, of Riverview St., passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, November 11, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends, following a brief illness.
Al or Butch, to his friends, was born January 29, 1949 to Florence (Ross) and Alfred Jacobson. As a boy, he attended Warrensburg Central School and went on to join the United States Army in 1969. He left the Army to care for his ailing father in 1972 and from there, went on to raise his family. He worked in many different industries, including working at the Lake George Howard Johnson’s before finally retiring early due to his health from Warrensburg Junior/Senior High School as a custodian.
He is survived by the wife he never stopped loving, Ginger (Cameron) Jacobson, his sister, Zina (Jacobson) McDonald and his three brothers of the heart, Phil Parker, Ken Baker and Francis Germain. Al is, also, survived by his loving children; Joyce (Jacobson) Hunt and her husband Ernie, Crystal (Jacobson) James and her husband Lloyd, Jolene (Jacobson) Myers and her husband Nicholas, Nicholas Jacobson and Nathaniel Jacobson. Also, he is survived by Alicia Russell and her family.
Al was the proud Pop Pop to Kevin French, Brandon French, Callandra Jacobson and Castiel Jacobson-Hunt, as well as to “his girls” Kathleen Hunt and Tarina Hunt. He was, also, looking forward to the arrival of two new grandbabies in 2017, his first from Jolene and third from Joyce. Al was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews and adopted anyone who came into his life as family.
Anyone who knew Al knows he loved his kids, grandkids, fishing and touring around in classic cars, visiting friends. If there was a car show and he could get to it, he went.
Friends may call on Al’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 1 pm at the funeral home.
Al’s family has requested that anyone owning a classic car, please bring it to funeral home to give Al one last car show before he takes his final ride. Also, Al was a casual man, and would have appreciated those attending to dress casually and comfortably.
