Obituary of Earl J. Granger

Brant Lake: Earl J. Granger, 84, of Granger Road, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side and went to be with his beloved wife, Vi, on Sunday, April 12, 2009. Born February 23, 1925 in Horicon, he was the son of the late Herbert and May (Raymond) Granger. He lived his entire life in Brant Lake. He married his loving wife Vi (Harpp) Granger August 30, 1947 in Chestertown. They were married for 51 years. Earl served four years in the US Army as a T-5 cook. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for many years in the woods. Over the years, he was employed at Brant Lake Camp, the New York State Department of Conservation, and the town of Horicon. His hobbies included gardening, working on lawn mowers, rabbit hunting with his beagles, and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Vi Harpp Granger, who passed on September 29, 1998; sister, Anice Farmer; brother, Herb Granger; granddaughter, Tammy Olden; and grandson, Zachary Granger. He is survived by his six daughters: Betty Olden and her companion, Jackie; Sally Marr, Patty Steinman and her companion, Doug; Cindy Moffitt and her husband, Carl; Connie Warner and her husband, Billy; and Bonnie Cleveland and her husband, Lance; four sons: Earl (Shorty) Granger and his wife, Pam; Jerry Granger and his wife, Peggy; Ricky Granger and fiancé, Dianne; and Roy Granger and fiancé, Faith, all of Brant Lake. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. At Earls’ request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
