Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bolton Landing: Carol Rose (Pogorzala) Shaw, 74, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born September 20, 1942 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late John and the Stephanie “Sally” (Tymorek) Pogorzala. Carol married the late Marshall W. Shaw. The couple relocated to Bolton Landing in 1965 and had two children, who were her biggest pride and joys, Tina Marie and Marshall “Tim”. Though they divorced in 1983, they remained friends for many years. Carol had the largest 4-H Club in Warren County ever, she often had 4-H youth in and out of her home, teaching them many life skills and crafting projects. She loved the holidays and made each one special, she was well known by friends and family for her annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations; she loved a good party. After years of waitressing at The Bavarian House and The Georgian, and her children were grown, she decided to further her education by attending and graduating from Adirondack Community College. She then worked for Adirondack Mountain Club, where she proudly displayed local ADK artist’s exhibits, she herself was a featured artist with her well known Mushroom Spore Prints before retiring. Carol developed a deep love of the Adirondack Mountains and their history, as well as dragonflies, and hiking, something she passed on to her granddaughter, Teesha, and great-grandson, Sylas. Some of Carol's fondest memories are on Trout Lake, where she enjoyed many summers with her family from Buffalo. Carol was passionate about her “critters”, and throughout her lifetime in Bolton Landing she raised cows, horses, chickens, pigs, cats, and dogs. Her children will tell you there was not an animal they did not have. She leaves behind her children, Tina Bapp and her husband, Todd, and Tim Shaw and his companion, Tammy Tougaw; four grandchildren; Teesha (Eric), Toddy (Amber), Tristina Rose (Floyd), and Marshall “Aaron” (Abby); five great-grandchildren, Tessah Rose, Sylas, Trixie, Todder, and Brayden; and her best friend, her dog, Bubby, aka Bubzy. At Carol’s request no calling hours will be scheduled. A celebration of her life will be held at 5:00 pm, September 5, 2017, her home in Bolton Landing. Her children invite all friends and family to attend, as Carol wanted everyone to share her life adventures with one another and smile about a life well lived. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Carol’s memory to Cornell Cooperative Ext. Washington County 4-H Youth Fair Awards, c/o Chris Nestle, 415 Lower Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guestbook and condolences.
