Obituary of Evelyn W. Pelletier

Olmstedville: Evelyn Caroline Wells Pelletier, 91, of Olmstedville, passed away, Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born March 18, 1916, near Pottersville, she was the daughter of Howard E. and Florence S. (Pritchard) Wells. Evelyn married Lester Lee Pelletier on June 5, 1937, at the family home near Pottersville. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1980. She was a graduate of Pottersville High School. For many years, she was a sales representative for The Berger Brothers Co. in Massachusetts, selling Spencer products. She was a district manager for three years. She served on the Pottersville School Board for six years and was a charter member of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network Steering Committee, which spearheaded the establishment of the healthcare services in the Adirondacks. She and her husband were widely known for the premium-quality maple syrup they produced on their Maple Crest Farm, where she lived for 64 years. Evelyn was a devoted and active member of the Minerva Baptist Church. During the many years of her faithful service to the church, she served as a deaconess, was a member of the trustee board, and chaired many committees. She also served on the parish council to which her church belongs. Besides her parents and husband, three sisters, Thursea A. Bodkin of South Glens Falls, Elizabeth F. Howe of Olmstedville, and Emily T. Juckett of Indian Lake; two brothers, Richard M. Wells of Pottersville, and Howard E. Wells, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; and two sons in law, Leonard R. Ely of Granville and Ruben H. Monroe of Olmstedville have all predeceased her. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, David J. Pelletier and his wife, Jane of New London, MO, and Henry L. Pelletier of Plattsburgh; her three daughters, Florence S. Ely of Granville, Maryemily E. Eddy and her husband, Michael of Athol, and Yvonne D. Monroe of Olmstedville; 10 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call on Evelyn’s family from 2-5 pm Sunday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Monday at the Minerva Baptist Church with the Rev. Trudy Pettibone, Pastor officiating. Burial will take place in Minerva Baptist Cemetery.
