Dear Roxanne.........I fondly recall the many times our mutual activities in the field of education brought all of us together in Lewis County. When my husband, Lynn, and I moved to North Creek (Supt. of Johnsburg Central School) we enjoyed meeting many of your family members and acquaintences.
Bill was admired and highly respected and he taught me a lot to prepare me for my future in administration. And most of all, I recall the loving couple you were and how pleasant it was to be in your presence.
I send my deepest sympathy and prayers to you and your entire family. I'm sure Bill and Lynn will "catch up" with each other in heaven and have many laughs together.
Fondly, Judy Western Farris

Bill Alexander hired me to fill in for several teachers at the Lyons Falls school in the 1964-65 school year. I had not planned to teach that year - had just moved to Lowville and wanted to start a family. He was persisitent - called me even when I declined (twice)his job offer. Actually, I think he was deperate! Finally I relented and couldn't have asked for a nicer or more fair boss. I worked for Bill and the kids at Lyons Falls for one year and enjoyed him to the max and the kids as well. One of my students that year succeeded me in a teaching job I eventually had at Lowville Academy. That was Pat Bradish. What a guy he was! Bill was positive and supportive of me for during the year I worked for him my mother was dying of cancer. He couldn't have been more concerned nor thoughtful of me at that time. My deepest sympathies go to his entire family! Suzie Parker

Roxy, John, Lisa and family, My heart feels heavy today.....Bill was an extraordinary man with an extraordinary gift for living life and loving people. Much like Dad, Bill was a friend to everyone; it didn't matter what background or walk of life they hailed from. He was a champion of the people and quietly did for others--his actions spoke louder than words. He could light up a room simply by walking in it with that huge smile and put everyone at ease. He affectionately referred to Mom (Tudy) as "the old crow" and on more than one occasion she would get a hastily scratched card from him in the mail simply addressed to "Tudy, North Creek" and amazingly she would get it! I will miss seeing him at the fish pond at his "North Country Castle" that was his dream come true, as well as the wonderful familiar smell of his pipe smoke trailing after him..... He has left behind a legacy of a wonderful, very special family and his love will fill everyones' hearts forever.....I take comfort knowing he and Dad are at this very moment probably having a coffee together and sharing a laugh or two while undoubtedly complaining about the "flatlanders" overtaking their Adirondacks. With much love to you AND to Bill, with whom I shared a special bond over the years. His spirit will forever soar the pines of the country he loved so well.... Sincerely, "Cousin Jan" xoxoxo
