Obituary of Scott M. McClenahan

Athol: Scott M. McClenahan, 64, of Stony Creek Road, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 8, 1951 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Donald and Florence (Main) McClenahan. As a trained carpenter, Scott’s early career involved historic restorations at Yaddo, the Capitol Building, and St. John the Evangelist Church. He was known for his later work as a master craftsman in the Adirondack style, throughout Lake George and the Adirondack region. Scott fulfilled his life dream of building the perfect home from his family, created from harvested materials on his property. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, as well as an artist, gardener, singer, and swimmer, and for his ingenuity, creativity, and sense of humor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Alison (Dilz) McClenahan; a son, Jacob McClenahan and his wife, Theresa; daughter, Molly Wilkie and her husband, Thomas; siblings, Donald Richard McClenahan, Bonnie Dean, Kay Klassen, Patricia Testo, Mark McClenahan, and Michelle Black, along with their spouses, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Scott’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation, at 6 pm, at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew, officiating.
