Warrensburg: Mildred “Mid” McKee, 97, formerly of Schroon River Road, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at her home. Born September 4, 1919 in Brant Lake, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Clara (Davis) Meade. Mildred graduated from Horicon Central School and Glens Falls Business School. A very active, lifelong member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Warrensburg, she taught Sunday School and summer Bible School, served as clerk and treasurer, was a member of the Alter Guild, helped with luncheons, and was secretary of the Vestry for many years; Mildred considered her church family one of her most cherished assets, and especially enjoyed her visits with Father Pettigrew. Mid loved to travel visiting England and Spain with church groups and friends. She and her husband, treated their son, his cousins, and friends to outings and fun times at SPAC and the movies. They also enjoyed hosting many dinner parties, wedding receptions, and New Year’s Eve parties at their home. Mid loved life and helping others, she had a deep faith, and spent little time worrying about things out of her control. Besides her parents, Mildred is predeceased by her beloved husband, Howard, her only child, David, siblings and their spouses, Violet (Edward Roblee, Howard Meade, Judith (Robert) Ross, Madeline Meade, and close friend, Arthur Devendorf. Mid’s family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Erica Remington, Onna Penistan, and Christy Hopkins for their wonderful care and love that made it possible for her to remain at home in her final years, and to Lynn Keil for all her help and support in her final days. “Oh, that I had wings life a dove! For then I would fly away and be at rest. Then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness.” Ps, 55:6 In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Church of the Holy Cross.
