Obituary of Robert J. Frulla

WARRENSBURG/ GAINESVILLE,VA: Robert J. Frulla, 80, passed away November 28, 2010. Born November 9, 1930 in Pawlet, VT, he was the youngest of seven brothers and three sisters to Italian immigrant parents. After graduating from Warrensburg Central School in 1949, Bob joined the United States Air Force in January of 1951, he then served 29 months in the Korean conflict as a crew chief. While in Tokyo, he played on the base football team. Upon returning stateside, he attended George Washington University on a football scholarship, where he was a two way starter on the 1957 Sun Bowl Champion Team. Bob was captain his senior year, and won several awards for his outstanding play as a lineman, including Washington D.C.’s Touchdown Club’s outstanding college player of the area, which included both Maryland and Navy. Bob was later elected into the GW Hall of Fame. Following his College graduation, he coached football for many years prior to working for Transway Corporation until retirement. There he became President of Freight Forwarders Institute of America. Bob was a fun loving man who was a fierce competitor, both on the football field and the golf course. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce E. (Stone) Frulla of Gainesville, VA; daughters, Susan M. LaForce and Nancy J. Gilmore and her husband, Steve; his son; Robert J. Frulla, Jr. and his wife, JaneAnne; grandchildren; Andrew LaForce, Michelle LaForce, Mitch Gilmore, Trent Gilmore, Robert Frulla III, Beau Frulla, and Caroline Frulla. A gathering of family and friends will take place, 3:30 pm, Saturday, June, 18 in the Warrensburg Cemetery, where Robert’s earthly remains will be interred with military honors.
