Maria L. Lucia, of Peck Avenue, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 12, 1954 in Davo City, Philippines, she was the daughter of Orlando and Luisa (Espino) Velarde of Toronto, Canada.
Maria earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Business Management and worked as a Medical Transcript Secretary in Saudi Arabia as well as a children’s hospital in Toronto.
She is survived by her beloved husband and friend, Rev. Bill Lucia of Glens Falls, her step-daughters, Pauline Persons, Michelle Olden and Carrie Thede, step-son, Jerry Lucia,; her siblings, Maria Theresa, Maria Grace, Maria Carmen, Orlando Velarde, Jr., and Orson Velarde, as well as several, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Christ Community Church, High Street, Thurman with her husband, Rev. Bill Lucia, officiating.
A reception will follow at the Thurman Town Hall.
