Obituary of Robert M. Millington

Bakers Mills: Robert M. Millington, Jr., 66, formerly of Bakers Mills, passed away, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville following a long illness, with his loving family at his side. Born January 25, 1943 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Robert and Jessie (Bills) Millington, Sr. Bob was a lifelong resident of the area, who left school early in his life to help support his brothers and sisters. He went on to work for over 17 years at Gore Mountain Ski Center in North Creek as the Night Watchman before becoming disabled in 1992. His favorite pastimes included gardening and cooking. Looking to the needs of others and putting them before himself was what made Bob the man he was. For many years, he was a resident at the Countryside Adult Home in Warrensburg and was the Chairman of the Resident Committee. Besides his parents, his sister, Linda Duell and brother, Wayne Millington have both predeceased him. Survivors include his siblings, Joan Younes and her husband, Donald of Brant Lake, Faith Warner and her husband, Bill of Gloversville, Carol Moffat and her husband, David of Schroon Lake, Duane Millington and his wife, Kathy of Florida, Michael Millington and his wife, Wendy of Connecticut, Rose Smalldon of Canada, Mary Morehouse and her husband, Richard of Bakers Mills, Betty Keller of Galway, Christopher Millington of Albany; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Bob’s family from 11 am – 1 pm Friday at the Sodom Community Church. A service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 1 pm, Friday at the church with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor officiating. Private burial will follow in Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Renal Center at the Glens Falls Hospital.
