Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg:
Charlotte Rumble Wood, the matriarch of the Rumble family, passed on through the pearly gates Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she has resided for the past 2 ½ years, recently celebrating her 103 birthday with family and friends, just as she predicted.
Born April 19, 1913 in Thurman, she was the daughter of the late John Algie and Beatrice Jane (Burch) Pasco.
Charlotte grew up in Johnsburg and was a graduate of the Johnsburg Central School class of 1932.
Following her graduation, Charlotte met and married Otis A. Rumble, relocating to Warrensburg, where they raised their three children, Pat, John, and Cindy before Otis’ untimely passing in 1960.
Charlotte was a long time employee at the Embassy Shirt Factory in both Warrensburg and Glens Falls, before being swept off her feet by her second husband, Ernest G. Wood. The couple married in 1970 and shared 26 ½ wonderful years together. Upon their retirement, they spent much of their time hunting, fishing, and camping along the Cedar and Hudson Rivers, and throughout the great Adirondacks.
More than anything, Charlotte cherished time spent with her family, who she always made time for, whether on River Street, Route 28, Abanakee Camp, Cedar River Flow, or a “special” phone call, they’ll have to treasure forever.
She became a member of the Church of the Holy Cross at the age of 65, this was a very special day for her and her family; there she enjoyed working in the kitchen and making her specialty quiche.
In addition to her parents and late husband, Charlotte was predeceased by two children, a daughter, Pat, who passed away in 1996, and a son, John, passing in 2003, as well as her twin brother, Harry, brothers, Lorenzo and Hugh Pasco, and sister-in-laws, Grace and Ethel Pasco.
Leaving behind to enjoy many wonderful memories are her daughter, Cindy (Rumble) Lamb; a daughter-in-law, Jean Rumble; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, cousins, and many, many, friends, both young and old.
Friends may call on Charlotte’s family from 11 am to 2 pm, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 pm, at the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Pettigrew, Rector of the Church of the Holy Cross, presiding.
Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
At Charlotte’s request, Pall Bearers will be Larry DeLoria, Otis Rumble, Donald B. Stone, III, Robert Smith, Jr., Joseph R. Smith, and Richard Needham.
Following the committal, a memorial luncheon will be held at the Church of the Holy Cross, where photos may be displayed to reminisce about the amazing life she lived.
Charlotte’s daughter would like to thank the staff at Adirondack Tri-County NRC for the excellent care they provided, as she loved and accepted them as her second family. Charlotte was the true definition of family, and we all love and will remember her for this.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Charlotte’s memory to the Church of the Holy Cross, 3764 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885, or Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 112 Ski Bowl Road, North Creek, NY 12853.
