Obituary of Joseph E. Hill

Warrensburg:
Joseph E. Hill, 67, of Burdick Avenue, passed away peacefully, June 18, 2011 at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.
Born March 6, 1944 in Chestertown, he was the son of the late Warren and Orcelia (Mitchell) Hill.
Joe enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved his hunting, fishing, and NASCAR’s #24, as well as his special dog, Scooby, his little gizmo, which was a big part of his life.
He married the love of his life, Betty Burke on September 17, 1993. She changed his whole life around and was the highlight of his life. The couple would have celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary.
Joe spent many happy and precious times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always there for anyone that needed him, and was loved by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, Joe is predeceased by his brothers, Francis and Wayne Millington; and a sister, Virginia Smith.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 17 years, Betty Hill of Warrensburg; his daughter, Christie “Mitt” Skiffington and her husband, B.J. of Warrensburg; his son, Joe Hill and his wife, Merissa of Warrensburg; brother, Tim Hill of Warrensburg; step-sons, Rick Turner and his wife, Barb of Thurman; Tom Turner and his wife, Dawn of Ticonderoga; Mike Turner and his wife, Heather of Warrensburg; step-daughter, Pam Grey and her husband, Don of Ticonderoga. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren; Bradley, Emily, Seth, Thomas, Jennifer, Laraecia, Tabatha, Danielle, Keiyana, Crystal, Christopher, Courtney, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mason, Shelby, Brandon, Nathan, Trinity, Zachary, Hannah, Nathaniel, Virginia, and Joseph; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe’s family would like to express a special thank you to the Glens Falls Cancer Center and Dr. John Stoutenburg, who provided him a special year to be with the love of his life. His family would also like to thank Donna Boss, and all who were there to help Joe during his illness. You are all the greatest people in the world.
Friends may call on Joe’s family from 3 to 5 pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow visitation at 5 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Leonard officiating.
Burial will be conducted at 2 pm, Friday, June 24 in Barrett Cemetery, Dresden.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the “Joseph E. Hill Memorial Fund” at any Glens Falls National Bank location to help defray funeral expenses.
