Obituary of Wesley J. Pelkey

Wesley J. Pelkey, MD, 74, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Adirondack Tri-Co. Health and Rehabilation Center in North Creek. Born June 6, 1931 he was the son of the late Wesley Lewis Pelkey and Marjorie Hildred (Call) Pelkey of Plattsburg. Dr. Pelkey graduated after a full academic scholarship from Williams College in 1953, gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester in 1957, followed by a residency in Urology at the University of Vermont. He served in the US Navy as a Lt. at the Chelsea Naval Hospital between 1959 and 1961. His publications included “Experiences With Lymphongiograpy” 1963, and “Urological Aspects of Daibetes”1964, published in the Journal of Urology. He practiced medicine in Albany, with a Diplomat American Board of Urology in 1969 and retired from private practice in 1988. Upon retirement he chaired the Planning Board for the town of Johnsburg, and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Tri-Co. Health and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Miner Pelkey, whom he married July 19, 1979, His sister Sandra Pelkey McSweeney of Utica; sons, Wesley Francis, Kevin, Philip, Michael and Christopher; as well as three stepsons. Friends will be welcome from 4-7pm Today, Nov. 21, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, where a prayer service will be conducted on Tuesday at 9:30am. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburg. The family suggests any memorial donations be made to the Adirondack Tri-Co. Health and Rehabilitation Center, North Creek, NY 12853
