Warrensburg:
Jerry J. Eldridge, 61, of River Street, passed away, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his home following a long illness.
Born February 28, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Beverly (Bennett) Eldridge and Grant D. Eldridge of Queensbury.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of the area and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the US Army before his honorable discharge in 1969.
He worked as a mechanic in the family business, Eldridge’s Garage in Warrensburg for many years.
Jerry always enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending his extensive vegetable garden. His demeanor was often with a quick wit and a great ability to see the humor in things.
Survived besides his father, include his friend and companion of many years, Shirley Whitbeck of Warrensburg; his four brothers, Leonard Eldridge and his wife, Gina of Warrensburg; Thomas Eldridge and his wife, Mary of Langhorne, PA, Patrick Eldridge and his wife, Lou Ann of Thurman, Robert Eldridge of Madison, FL; his two sisters, Mary Eldridge of St. Petersburg, FL, Alice E. Pike of Glens Falls; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service and internment with full military honors will be conducted 12 pm Friday, May 23 in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
Jerry’s family would like to express their appreciation for the kind and compassionate care he received at the CR Wood Cancer Care Center at the Glens Falls Hospital and Dr. Orlando Martelo and Dr. Dean Reali at the Warrensburg Health Center.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Warrensburg American Legion or VFW Posts.
