Obituary of Leona I. Warrington

North Creek: Leona I. Warrington, 74, of Peaceful Valley Road, passed away, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born April 15, 1933 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice (Morse) Secor. Leona was a lifelong resident of the area and married Douglas Warrington on April 21, 1951. Over the years, Leona worked as a babysitter and private duty nurse for various area residences. While raising her family, she enjoyed volunteering with the 4H and the Head Start programs. She was also a past vise president of the Gore Mt. Senior Citizens and enjoyed helping out at the gleaning and food pantry. She was very proud of her community service and will be missed by many. Leona’s favorite pastimes included quilting, cooking, playing bingo, traveling to visit family and friends and her weekly trips to Glens Falls for shopping and lunches with her family members. Besides her parents, her husband, Doug, passed away on October 22, 2001 after 50 years of marriage. Her daughter, Christine Morehouse died in 1998 and her infant son, Allen died in 1969, her sister, Elizabeth Campbell; brother in laws, James Campbell and Bernie Baker. Survivors include her three children, Kenneth Warrington and his wife, Tressa (Marge) of Florida, Chuck Warrington and his wife, Sherry of Johnsburg, Evelyn Goodspeed and her husband, Buck of North Creek; two brothers, Ken Secor and his wife, Lois of Wevertown, Richard Secor and his wife, Sheila of Chestertown; four sisters, Madeline Campbell of South Glens Falls, Mary Baker of Ticonderoga, Patricia Tucker and her husband, Gordon of North Creek, Connie Younes and her husband, Asa; step sister, Patricia Hamilton of Rochester; 14 grandchildren, Robert Secor and his wife, Joliene, Alan Clark, Leona Clark, Dana Goodspeed, Danielle Goodspeed and her companion, James Halloran, Kenneth Warrington Jr, Eric Warrington, Melissa Moose and her husband, Bill, Jason Olden, Michael Warrington, Todd Warrington, Chad Cole, Jessica King, Kevin Morehouse and his fiancé, Tanya; 10 great grandchildren, Tristin Secor, Alan Clark Jr, Kira Clark, Thomas Clark, Chelsea Clark, Olivia Warrington, Joshua Warrington, Hanna Warrington, Isaac Warrington and Christian Cojoc; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Leona’s family from 6-8 pm Friday at the Tannery Pond Community Center, Main Street, North Creek. A service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at the community center at 8 pm with Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating.
